Our volunteers join our programs for a variety of reasons. It could be because they are looking to travel, to better themselves or to do some good for disadvantaged communities. Our programs have different purposes, such as health promotion, sustainability, education and more! As a social enterprise, we aim to create an experience that is beneficial for the community we send our volunteers, and for our volunteers themselves. Here’s how volunteering with us can give you an unforgettable trip overseas and boost your CV!
You can do an internship at one of our volunteer hubs in Thailand or Cambodia to focus on health, education, business or community development. This is an exciting chance to live and travel overseas while completing an internship in a country that needs assistance. You will be working closely with us and our volunteers to create a brighter future for the communities that need our help. This would be learning about and working on programs that focus on the specific needs of the country.
Each one of our volunteer challenges has an element of teaching involved because we believe it is the younger generation that can alter attitudes and create lasting change in the countries where we work. While you’re on your chosen challenge you can explore your interests in conservation, sustainability, bettering the environment, community development, education and health promotion. You can even find your passion for travel as there are plenty of opportunities to leave the volunteering location and explore. This could influence where you work in the future or how much your dream job allows you to travel.
Be sure to enquire about the universities that we partner with to give the students who go away on our programs a credit to go towards their degree. Whether you are sure of your career path or are still figuring it out, our programs give our volunteers experience in a number of fields and inspire a future in helping others.
For those in a teaching degree, our programs have a strong focus on education, and will give you a crash course in how to teach in a classroom of primary students. Even if you have been on a placement at a school back in-country, teaching in a classroom with children who mightn’t know a word of English is an entirely different experience. It can be where you challenge yourself and shine in your field. This will give you useful skills and tools to take back with you.
We have programs for those who are interested in a career in health, we have programs in almost all of our locations in Thailand, Peru, India, Nepal and Cambodia. Here you can volunteer on a Health Promotion or a Paramedic Challenge. You can work with local first responders and develop community health in the area. And you can educate the future generation on ways they can improve their health and hygiene for a cleaner, safer world!
To interest our students who have a passion for the environment, we have a range of programs that are based on animal conservation, sustainability and saving plant life. In Thailand, we have the Elephants and Hill Tribes Challenge, where you will spend time volunteering in an elephant sanctuary. The Wildlife & Environment Challenge in Cambodia gives you experience in volunteering at a wildlife sanctuary where you will work on conservation projects, then you’ll be spending time at a school where you can further your mission on educating others on animals and the environment.
Skills that you learn on a volunteer trip with us are transferable to a job you’re looking to get into. With us, people who have never stepped into a classroom as a teacher, have been able to design a teaching plan, work with others to create a well-rounded program and command a classroom of excitable kids. Even if you aren’t looking to continue with a teaching career after, there is much confidence to be gained when you are put into a position of authority with a mission to help others.
Our programs give you valuable knowledge on a number of subjects, like environmental issues and solutions, education in English and health, teamwork, self-care and the importance of giving. If you aren’t sure of the career path you want to start in, volunteering on a program can expand on your knowledge of a brand new career. Acknowledging where help is needed in the world can assist in that, it can give you an idea of how you can help and create a dream career out of it. We have six countries that offer six different experiences, unfortunately each location is burdened by a low economic status, poverty, poor health and hygiene practices, and a lack of educational opportunities.
Our volunteering experiences are not only designed to increase the health and wellbeing of people, animals and the environment in underprivileged countries. But to also inspire our volunteers with meaningful experiences to help choose a path that brings them to their dream job. It’s important to us that our volunteers benefit from the lessons they learn while volunteering overseas and that we can work together to create a world full of people willing to help those in need.
